Shri S. Dasgupta, IAS (Retd.) joined as Member, West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission, on 01.02.2011 in the afternoon. Born on 16.03.1952, he graduated from the Calcutta University with Honours in Chemistry in 1971. He joined the West Bengal Civil Service as 1974 batch officer and the Indian Administrative Service (West Bengal Cadre), on promotion, as 1994 batch IAS Officer. He served the State in different capacities, such as Asstt. Director of Panchayats (1985-86), Managing Director, West Bengal State Handloom Weavers’ Co-Operative Society (1996-1997) & (2002-2005), Managing Director, West Bengal Tribal Development Co-Operative Corporation (1997-2002), Additional District Magistrate, Jalpaiguri District (2005-06) and Joint Secretary and then Special Secretary of the Department of Power and Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Government of West Bengal (2006-2010).

He retired from the Indian Administrative service voluntarily and prematurely on 31.01.2011. He will retire from the WBERC on 01-02-2016.
