Shri Prititosh Ray joined this Commission as Member on 4th November, 2004. Born on 9th December, 1944, Shri Ray graduated from Jadavpur University in Electrical Engineering in 1964. After two years of Post Graduate research in Electrical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University (as a C.S.I.R. Research Fellow), he joined Central Water & Power Commission (Power Wing), presently the Central Electricity Authority.

He worked in CEA for 38 years in various capacities in the fields of power survey, operation & maintenance of diesel power station & town distribution (at Agartala), preparation of first rural electrification scheme for Tripura, testing & commissioning of 100 MW & 210 MW generating units in Badarpur Thermal Power Station (New Delhi) and Vijaywada Thermal Power Station (Andhra Pradesh).

He worked for about twenty years in Regional Grid Operation, Regional Energy Accounting & Availability Based Tariff and other fields of Regional Power System in Eastern Regional Electricity Board as Superintending Engineer & Member Secretary (In-charge). He received his training in Grid Management from C.E.G.B. (U.K.) under Colombo Plan. He also visited Germany in connection with testing of equipment for setting up of Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre. He retired from CEA as Chief Engineer from the post of Member Secretary, North Eastern Regional Electricity Board, Shillong, before joining WBERC as Member. On completion of his 5-year tenure he will retire from the Commission in November, 2009.
